HOLIDAY E.L.F. PROGRAM 08/22/2011
0 Comments

The Brophy Hockey Club participated in the E.L.F. (Extending Love to Families) Drive this holiday season by adopting a family in need of assistance. Our family, a single mom with three teenage boys, was waiting at the door of their apartment when we arrived with three trucks full of pantry supplies, household items, and gifts. The generosity of our hockey families put smiles on all of their faces as the hockey players delivered much needed items including a microwave, new pots and pans, jackets, pajamas, and bikes for the entire family.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this family’s Christmas a joyous one. Special thanks to Alex Smith’s family, Sean Kelly and his family, the Ricci family, and the Ott family who helped deliver the items on that Sunday. We hope that you enjoyed a blessed holiday with your family, and thank you for sharing in the true joy of helping others this Christmas season.

With gratitude,

Elaine Smith and JoAnn Ott

Thank you to all of the Brophy Hockey Club players and their Dads that showed up early to support the Annual Dads’ Club Paint-A-Thon. The boys worked hard, but had a lot of fun!

The Dad’s Club, the Lacrosse Team and the Hockey Team joined forces Saturday morning to host a great event to support the International Rescue Committee. We hosted approximately 75 children and provided a morning of fun and athletic events, healthy snacks, and fellowship.

Thank you very much for the strong turnout from our Hockey Club for this Service Event. Our Team was very well represented and we had enthusiastic participants. As you all know, Brophy is not just about classroom education: What distinguishes a Jesuit education is the emphasis on a call to view the world from the perspective of marginalized people, a perspective which develops what Father Pedro Arrupe, S.J., the former General of the Society of Jesus, called “men and women for others.”
